Gregory Sachs and John Mattes have passed on the sad news of the passing of Jeff Hinwood as delivered to them by Jeff’s brother, Gregory.
Jeff passed away on Friday, 2 December in hospital suffering from respiratory issues
Jeff was a very well respected Engineer with OTC and regularly attended OTVA social functions and Oaks lunches before Parkinson’s Disease prevented his travel from his home in Berry.
He will be remembered for his unfailing good humour and his gift for apposite and humorous comments.
May He Rest In Peace.
Jeff was a nice bloke, I liked him. I first met him when he was appointed manager of Broadway in the 70s.
Jeff worked for me for some time, I guess in the 1970’s. At that time he was a fairly young engineer. Whilst I remember Jeff well, I must confess that with this distance of time I can no longer recall the precise projects that he was involved in or the exact years. My recollection is that he was a precise and meticulous engineer, and also that he was part of a volunteer bushfire brigade, and during the Summer season had to occasionally drop everytning and head back to the North Shore to fight a new fire outbreak. Sorry to hear that he has to struggle with such a debilitating medical condition.
With best regards,
Guntis (“Gus”) Berzins
