This news that has been provided by John Hibbard is very sad news indeed.

Hello family and friends of Ernie Wan

It is with immense sadness that we share the news that Ernie Wan passed away on 14 February 2023 at Hornsby Hospital aged 82. His wife Trish, and children Marina and Steven were by his side in his final hours and he passed peacefully due to complications of pancreatitis. Ernie had a great love for his family in Hong Kong and Australia, and his global network of friends and colleagues were very important to him. For all his accomplishments in life and business, his greatest love was for his grandchildren Charlotte, Patrick, Cooper and Isla, who will greatly miss his vibrant and playful energy.

A celebration of Ernie’s life will be held on Thursday 23 February at 1pm in The South Chapel – Northern Suburbs Crematorium. 199 Delhi Road, North Ryde NSW, Australia

For those unable to attend in person the service will be live streamed and available for later viewing. https://www.albertmeyer.com.au/live-streaming/

This is very sad news indeed.

I worked for Ernie in the Quality of Service Section on 10th Floor ANZ Building in Martin Place (Sydney). QoS was the first place in which I worked when I came out of training in 1975. Ernie was a real gentleman. A nicer guy you will never meet. As far as I am aware everybody respected him and valued his opinion.

Ernie was a very good manager. He had a way of making everyone feel that their contribution was valued and appreciated. He will be sadly missed.

    May He Rest In Peace.

Such sad sad news. I can’t believe this.

Ernie was such a great person and mentored and friended so many in Australia and around the world.

Apart from several encounters at OTC between Ernie on myself on various projects, my late wife Marcia taught Ernie’s daughter Marina at Cheltenham Girls’ High School. So we had a most pleasant extended relationship.

Please pass on my sincere condolences to the whole family. I will sorely miss the prospect of many future pleasant times together.

    Sincerely Wallace W DONALD

What a great insight to a man that I briefly came in contact with for a very brief moment in time in my early days of OTC – and despite that brief moment I could tell that he was well respected and well connected.
