Phil Hiscox has provided us this morning with the sad news of the passing of another of our OTC fraternity.

I worked with Neil at Paddington in the mid-1980s till when I left OTC to join Optus in 1992.

Neil worked in the INMC on Level 7 at Paddington in those years but had worked in many areas in OTC throughout his career.

He was a gentle man who was well liked and respected by all who knew him.

May He Rest in Peace

    Peter

Thought I should let you know of the passing of one of your members.

I attended Neil’s funeral yesterday (21/11/17). I met Neil in the early 90’s when we worked in the admin office at Paddington.

Prior to that Neil monitored phone call quality at Paddington.

I know at some point he worked in Martin Place, perhaps the SOR.

    He was a true gentleman

    Regards

Oh no, that is really sad news. He was such a good man.
Neil was a kind, gentle, very affable guy, had a funny laugh, always had a great story. Loved his stories about his travels, especially Mauritius….
I think anyone that knew him, just liked him, that’s for sure….
I think he also worked at 231 Elizabeth st @ head office, admin…not 100% sure though

I can remember Neil “Ace” Jackson [no idea when the nickname started..] working for quite a long time in the SOR Service Dept. He used to maintain the filing system in there and search for, extract and replace all the telegrams that had had some sort of service difficulty that required further corrective attention/information etc. I can’t remember him ever being an operator tho’. The last time I saw him was at Alfie Cannel’s funeral service.

I do believe Neil also worked on the ground floor in Spring Street as a Counter Officer. May God bless his soul and yes he was a very pleasant person to work with.

Neil worked as a clerk for me at Broadway when I was A/g Manager, Building Administration (in the mid-90s when Bob Fisher was ill and after he passed away).

Nothing was too much trouble for Neil and I quite liked him.

It is sad to hear of Neil’s passing. Yes certainly he was a quiet gentleman.
I remember his main role during the eighties was on the counter at Martin Place.
I’m fairly sure in his early days he also worked as a Circuit/Traffic Assistant in Sydney Operating Room (SOR).
The Seniority List has: JACKSON N R 05.02.71 so he may well have worked in Spring Street Sydney as I did.
That’s the best of my recollections re Neil Jackson. It certainly brought back memories while looking through the Seniority List.
