{"id":7974,"date":"2022-06-29T09:12:33","date_gmt":"2022-06-28T22:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.otva.com\/blog\/?p=7974"},"modified":"2022-07-01T09:35:38","modified_gmt":"2022-06-30T22:35:38","slug":"bob-goodman-passed-away-monday-27-june-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.otva.com\/blog\/bob-goodman-passed-away-monday-27-june-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Bob Goodman &#8211; Passed Away Monday 27 June 2022 &#8211; Aged in his late 80s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jim Simpson has relayed the sad news provided by Joy Goodman that her partner, Bob Goodman, has passed away last night (Monday 27 June 2022).<\/p>\n<p>Jim has previously advised the Vets that Bob had been unwell for a long time and in care, though his memory of his special time &amp; involvement with OTC\/NASA remained firm.<\/p>\n<p>Bob had a high profile involvement in the co-ordination of international telecommunications services via OTC in support of NASA\u2019s past space missions, not least the Apollo 11 Moon Landing on 21<sup>st<\/sup> July 1969.<\/p>\n<p>Jim offered to share this sad news with colleagues who knew Bob during his working life:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>OTVA veterans<\/em><\/li>\n<li>John Sarkissian (<em>Parkes Deep Space Radio Telescope<\/em>) and Colin Mackellar, both of whom have close links with others that Bob worked with in those days in the NASA Tracking Stations in Tidbinbilla, Honeysuckle Creek<\/li>\n<li>Mike Dinn, former Deputy Director for NASA in Canberra.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The members of the OTVA have expressed their sincere condolences to Joy at this sad time.<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with Bob\u2019s wishes the funeral service will be a family\/private affair.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jim Simpson has relayed the sad news provided by Joy Goodman that her partner, Bob Goodman, has passed away last night (Monday 27 June 2022).
