Loving husband of Cynthia who passed away 8 years ago, great friend of Steven, Amanda &amp; family and the residents and staff of Deloraine.<\/p>\n<p>Bob was Senior Clerk, Customer Accounts (Melbourne) and the Coordinator OTC Outreach Program in the mid-1980s as well as the developer of the Cryptic Crosswords that became a regular feature of the Transit magazines during the 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>OTC OUTREACH was a self help program designed to provide support for current and retired staff members who were suffering from a life threatening illness, or who had family or close friends suffering from<br \/>\nsuch an illness.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Symes from the Melbourne Office &#8211; a cancer patient and trained<br \/>\nOUTREACH counsellor with the Peter MacCallum Institute in Melbourne &#8211; introduced the program to Sydney-based staff and outstation managers at a series of seminars in August 1986.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert James (Bob) Symes passed away peacefully at Deloraine Aged Care on 15\/12\/2018 aged 75 years.
