What are Cookies?

Cookies are small files transferred to your computer when you vist some web sites. Websites use cookies to offer a personalized experience to users and to gather information about website use. Many websites also use cookies to store information that provides a consistent experience between sections of the site, such as a shopping cart, or to restrict certain web pages as in the case of the OTVA web site. With a trusted website, cookies can enrich your experience by allowing the site to learn your preferences or allowing you to skip having to sign in every time you go to the website. However, some cookies, such as those saved by banner ads, might put your privacy at risk by tracking sites you visit.

Checking your privacy setting in Internet Explorer

You should ony have to implicitly allow cookies for the OTVA web site if you have increased the windows default privacy setting from Medium to Medium-High or High.

In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options. Click the Privacy tab.

If the slide control is set to "Medium-High" or "High" then you will need to implicitly allow cookies to be able to log on to the otva.com web site. Under Settings, do the following:

  • Click Sites.
  • Enter the site name "otva.com" and select "always allow"

When you are finished making changes to your privacy settings, click OK.
